Attendance & Punctuality

As a popular and oversubscribed provider, we strive to ensure that as many children as possible benefit from regular attendance at our nursery. Although not mandatory at this age, good attendance supports learning and development, keeps children safe, promotes wellbeing and ensures they do not miss out on their entitlements and opportunities.

We are required to keep full registration details for every child, as specified in the EYFS. Parents are asked to contact the office on 020 7520 0385 (or admin@thomascoram.camden.sch.ukbefore 9.00am if their child is unwell or will be absent because of a medical appointment. Holidays during term time will not be authorised.

In case of illness, children should stay at home until they feel better. We follow the illness exclusion periods as advised by the Public Health Agency. If your child has diarrhoea or vomiting, please advise the school and keep your child at home for 48 hours from the last episode. Children with rashes should be considered infectious and assessed by their doctor.

Punctual attendance establishes good habits that will benefit children beyond nursery. Late arrivals (after 9.40am) may be asked to return for the afternoon session at 1:30pm. To enable staff to plan the next day’s activities, it is vital that ‘core day’ children are collected between 3.15-3.30pm and ‘extended day’ children between 5.15-5.25pm. To meet our duty of care, we will only allow your child to leave the school with a named person, aged 16 or above.
